Preliminary studies show that oxide films & clusters that are sufficiently dispersed can further refine the grain size by providing suitable points for nucleation. The high shear rate is capable of dispersing detrimental intermetallics. For example dispersing of Fe-Rich Intermetallics in recycled aluminium can potentially allow for higher Iron tolerance in castings and less use of virgin material.
Apart from this pressure and dispersion produced by the device device can also be exploited for Foundry applications such as degassing, Pumping molten metal and as an in line alloying furnace
